University of Iowa Community Credit Union Checking Accounts

University of Iowa Community Credit Union offers checking accounts designed to fit your needs. We have Rewards Checking and R2 Checking which are profit sharing accounts that reward members for having their primary checking with us. Free Checking offers all the conveniences you expect. We even have Access Checking for members that are rebuilding their credit.

All UICCU checking accounts have no minimum balance requirement and come with these free tools to manage your money:

  e-Statements are free for all accounts. Members who opt to receive paper statements will be charged a fee of $2.50 per month.
†   R2 Checking requires the account holder use their UICCU credit card a minimum of 15 times each month averaging at least $10. Who is eligible for UICCU membership?

Membership is open to anyone living or working in Iowa and 4 Illinois counties: Henry, Knox, Mercer, and Rock Island. You can also join if you are a University of Iowa student, staff, or alumni; or a direct relative of a current member.

How do I open a checking account?

If you are not yet a member, you will need to open a share savings account with a minimum $5 deposit. Members can open a checking account with a $50 initial deposit. You can open an account at any branch location, or by filling out our online application.

New checking accounts are subject to credit approval, employment status, and valid identification that is at least 90 days old.

Are there any fees for checking accounts?

There is no monthly service fee for Rewards Checking, R2 Checking or Free Checking. There is a $4.75 + tax monthly fee for Access Checking.

Non-UICCU ATMs are assessed a $1.75 per transaction usage fee. Rewards Checking accounts are eligible for up to $7 in ATM fee reimbursements per month. UICCU partners with Allpoint to offer 43,000 free ATMs nationwide, find the free ATMs close to you.

There is a $2.50 monthly fee to receive paper statements. Members can avoid this fee by opting to receive free e-Statements instead. Learn how to sign up for e-Statements.

Where can I find my member number?

Your member number is also your account number (your checking account number will include your account number and will be preceded by other digits). You can find your member/account number on your membership card that was included in your new account paperwork. If you're having trouble finding your number please give us a call at (800) 397-3790.

Where can I find my checking account number?

On checks for your account - Your checking account number is between UICCU's routing number and the incrementing check number.

Online banking - Navigate to the page where you can view your account's recent transactions. Click the option that says "Details". In the details that appear, your checking account number is listed as "MICR Account Number".

How do I register for online banking?

You will need your member number (also referred to as your account number) and social security number to get started. See our Online Banking sign up instructions for a step by step guide.

How do I sign up for e-statements?

To enroll in e-statements, you must first be enrolled in online banking. You can then follow the steps in our e-statements guide to enroll.

What is UICCU’s routing number?

The routing number can also be found on your member card and in the footer of UICCU's website.

How do I update my PIN number?

Call (800) 717-4923 anytime to update your PIN Number. You can review the steps and questions asked by the automated system here.

How can I locate a free ATM?

UICCU and Allpoint ATMs are free for members to use. You can locate free ATMs in our Branch & ATM locator map. You can also use Allpoint's mobile app to find free Allpoint ATMs near you.

Where do I order checks?

You can order or reorder checks online with Harland Clarke. You'll also find a link to order checks under Bank > Account Management Tools on our website or the "Services" menu in Online Banking.

What happens if I overdraft?

Visit our Overdraft Privilege page to learn more about overdrafts and to request changes to how they're handed for your account. UICCU charges a fee of $29.50-$34 (plus sales tax) per overdraft, up to $195 per day.

How is interest calculated for divided rewards?

Interest is calculated on your average daily balance for the month and paid out on the last day of the month.
